The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, attended the second BitA Brunch organized by the Bit Alliance, during which they discussed the possibilities of better cooperation between the FBiH Government and the IT industry.
Companies from the IT sector in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina employ more than 11,000 workers, generate revenue of more than a billion KM, of which they generate more than 70 percent of total revenue from the export of services and products.
Prime Minister Nikšić pointed out that the IT industry in FBIH is one of the fastest growing branches of the economy, and that it is about companies that have shown that they are competitive in the global framework.
"We in the FBiH Government recognize the potential of this industry and wish to deepen cooperation and work together to improve the business environment, and to create and implement measures that will ensure further progress and development of this branch of industry. Our wish is for the IT industry to reach the number of employees of some 20,000 workers during this mandate of the Government, and to double its income, which will have a significant impact on the overall development of our economy, but also of society as a whole. In this regard, we consider the recently established steps to be particularly important proposals for laws on entrepreneurial infrastructure and incentives for the development of small businesses," said Nikšić.
The president of the Bit Alliance Board of Directors, Amina Karić, emphasized that this association welcomes the decision of the FBIH Government to talk openly with representatives of IT companies and that specific activities have already been initiated that should ensure significant support for the further development of this sector.
"This especially applies to the proposal for a law on business infrastructure, which the Government sent to the parliamentary procedure, and which Prime Minister Nikšić presented during the conversation. We also expect significant positive effects from the upcoming reform of fiscal laws," said Karić.
Bit Alliance Executive Director Damir Maglajlić thanked Prime Minister Nikšić for his willingness to work on improving the position of the IT industry, which has great potential for additional employment.
"We are especially grateful to Prime Minister Nikšić for presenting us with the Government's plans when it comes to the reform of fiscal laws. We are encouraged by the fact that the FBIH Government sees the potential of this industry and we believe that we will continue further cooperation with the aim of further development and progress of the IT industry, emphasized Maglajlić.
