RDBIH – Development of Research and Development Strategies and Centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina

RDBIH – Development of Research and Development Strategies and Centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The RDBIH project connects universities, industry and innovation through the development of R&D centers in BiH.

The Development of Research & Development Strategies and Centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina (RDBIH) project, funded through the Erasmus+ CBHE program (101177753-RDBIH-ERASMUS-EDU-2024-CBHE), aims to transform the research and innovation landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina over the next four years. Led by the University of Novi Sad, and supported by partners from the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project focuses on developing modern research and development strategies aligned with European standards and establishing six R&D centers at leading universities across BiH.

Project Goals

  • Develop national and institutional research and development strategies in line with EU practices.

  • Establish six R&D centers at universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  • Create a digital collaboration network for knowledge exchange between academia and industry.

  • Strengthen the capacities of researchers and administrative staff through training and educational programs.

  • Enhance links between education, industry, and policy in the field of innovation.

Activities

The project addresses key challenges in the local context — such as the lack of research infrastructure, limited research output, and weak collaboration between academia and industry. Through its planned activities, the project will:

  • Establish centers of excellence at universities.

  • Develop a digital collaborative platform for sharing research resources.

  • Organize training programs and workshops for researchers.

  • Promote applied research and innovation through industry partnerships.

The Role of Bit Alliance

As a consortium member, Bit Alliance contributes to the project by connecting the IT industry with academia, providing expertise on the development of digital solutions, and supporting the creation of a sustainable cooperation model between research centers and industry.

Results and Expected Impact

The project will contribute to building a sustainable research ecosystem in Bosnia and Herzegovina that supports innovation, economic growth, and the international competitiveness of universities. The established R&D centers and digital collaboration network are expected to foster stronger cooperation, reduce brain drain, and promote the practical application of scientific research.
