Conference on the potential of software industry development in Bosnia and Herzegovina

To showcase the potential of the IT sector and emphasize the importance of a strategic approach to its development, Bit Alliance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized two Conferences on the Development Potential of the Software Industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These conferences aimed to bring together IT companies, policymakers, educational institutions, and the media in a joint discussion on the role of the software industry in the country’s economic development and the employment of young professionals.

First Conference – 2017

The first Conference on the Development Potential of the Software Industry in BiH was held in 2017 in Sarajevo as the first institutional event dedicated to the development of the software industry. The conference presented key economic indicators and growth potential of the IT sector, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina has the capacity to become a regional center for software development.

This event marked the beginning of continuous dialogue among institutions, academia, and IT companies about the need to create a more favorable business and educational environment for the IT sector.

Second Conference – 2018

Continuing the dialogue, the second Conference on the Development Potential of the Software Industry was held on May 10, 2018, also in Sarajevo. The goal of the conference was to present current trends in the software industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region, and the world, and to offer concrete recommendations for improving employment policies and workforce development in the IT sector.

The conference gathered over 450 participants, including representatives of government institutions at all levels, IT company executives, educational institutions, NGOs, and the media. The event sent a strong message of governmental support for the software industry as one of the most promising branches of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economy.

Long-Term Impact

Through the organization of these conferences, Bit Alliance initiated a public dialogue on the importance of the IT industry for the country’s economic development and youth employment. These events laid the foundation for stronger cooperation between the government, academia, and the IT industry, contributing to the recognition of the software industry as a strategic economic sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
