Association for Internet Commerce “eComm” in BiH

With the establishment of the "eComm" Association, BiH gained the first organization that systematically develops and promotes secure online commerce.

At the end of October 2021, the Association for Internet Trade “eComm” was established in Sarajevo — the first organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina dedicated to the development and promotion of e-commerce at the national level.

The association was founded by Bit Alliance, PIK d.o.o. Sarajevo, LILIUM d.o.o. Sarajevo, and the Arbitri Association, with the support of the MarketMakers project funded by the Government of Switzerland. This initiative represents an important step toward creating a more favorable business environment and aligning Bosnia and Herzegovina with global trends in digital commerce.

Project Objectives

  • Promote safe and transparent online trade in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

  • Improve the legislative framework and standards in the field of e-commerce.

  • Educate retailers, consumers, and institutions about digital sales channels.

  • Stimulate the development of the local e-commerce market and increase user trust.

Activities

As part of the initiative, 35 e-shops were supported, and a business plan for the “eComm” Association was developed, positioning it as the key advocate for the development of e-commerce in BiH. Planned activities include organizing conferences, seminars, and webinars, fostering collaboration with public and private sectors, and promoting the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Long-Term Impact

With the establishment of the “eComm” Association, Bosnia and Herzegovina gained an institutional framework dedicated to the continuous development of the e-commerce market, online shopping security, and public awareness of the benefits of the digital economy. This initiative contributes to modernizing business operations, enhancing competitiveness, and connecting BiH more closely with regional and global markets.
